Simply because we asked ourselves a frank question; would we buy Norm right
now? If we’re totally honest with ourselves, we might not.

Norm has always been expensive. We know that, and we’ve been unapologetic about it. Not because we’re greedy – far from it. The truth is neither of us is ever paid
out of Norm and any money we make goes straight back into the business; we
genuinely just do it for the love, and because of the good it does. It’s less of a
business and more of a creative project that comes with a really cool community.

No one believes in this product more than us, but things are bleak out here, both for
businesses and for everyday people, and it doesn’t look like that’s going to change
quickly. Gone are the days of flippantly joking about the cozzie livs – this shit it is
getting seriously dystopian and we can’t sit idly by and do nothing.

The idea of having such an amazing product that some of our customers can’t afford
and benefit from is completely at odds with our values, and frankly it feels pretty
pointless.

Is reducing the price of a dog milkshake made by an Australian micro-business going
to change the world? No. But it’s one small thing we can do, at a time where every
little bit helps.

We’ve gotten elbows deep in data, run the numbers and absolutely slashed our
expenses. No more mysterious subscription charges: we’re not giving a penny to a
billionaire unless we absolutely have to. This is what we came up with:

• No more across-the-board flat rate: some freakshakes cost us more to make,
  so that’s now reflected in the price.
• Our 3 top dog freakshakes are now $32.99
• ALL of our other freakshakes are now $29.99
• Our bundles now have a further 10% discount
• These changes are live now

Will this impact the quality of the product you know and love? Absolutely not!

Norm costs more than other brands because it’s better. We rigorously source all our
ingredients to find the best possible versions of them. We buy our goat’s milk from
the farm, use Australian grown insects and restaurant-grade meat. All our products
are carefully manufactured in fully licenced Australian facilities.

You get the idea. The team behind Norm are committed to continue producing the
high-quality, unique products for your furry family members.

“Then why didn’t we do it sooner?”

This isn’t our first rodeo, and we know there are so many costs involved in producing
something high quality and aligned with our collective values. We know that when
you’re working with things like weird offal, the supply chains can be fragile. We also
have a small team to support with the day to day running of our businesses. These
are just some of the factors we need to consider when pricing Norm.

But over the past few years, we’ve made choices that has allowed for us to build
resilience into our business. That means we’re in a unique position to be able to
confidently reduce our prices and not worry about compromising quality for the sake
of making money.

We’re just a couple of Millennial girlies with a milkshake business for dogs and cats,
standing in front of a world that resembles an episode of Black Mirror, asking it to
throw us all a goddamn bone.
